Wisconsin Juniors Participate in Jersey Youth Academy

Two Jersey juniors from Wisconsin were among the 36 young people from 17 states chosen to attend the most recent Jersey Youth Academy in Columbus, OH.

Grace Vos of Maribel (Manitowoc Lutheran High School) and Colin Wussow of Cecil (University of Wisconsin-River Falls) were selected for Class VI based on merit of their applications.

They are pictured above at Woodruff Dairy, a Registered Jersey dairy that bottles its own milk at the farm in Urbana, OH. Vos (above left) gives a thumbs-up to the farm’s chocolate milk. Wussow presents a canvas print to Levi and Todd Woodruff for their hospitality in hosting the group.

“The Jersey Youth Academy is an intensive educational program focused specifically on the Jersey cow and the many elements of the Jersey dairy business,” said Jonathan Merriam, President of the American Jersey Cattle Association. “Academy challenges participants to understand the long history and current growth of the Jersey breed in this country and shows them the opportunities and challenges of the dairy business in the future.”
